About
About Bodwell High School
Bodwell High School was founded in 1991 in the City of Vancouver. It is a non-denominational, co-educational day and boarding school, offering grades 8 to 12 and university preparation. Its goal is to provide an educational experience that challenges students to reach their full potential while remaining sensitive to individual student needs. In September, 2003, the school moved into its new facility on Harbourside Drive in North Vancouver, overlooking beautiful Burrard Inlet and the Vancouver harbour. Bodwell High School aims to provide high-quality programs that will foster positive experiences its our students. Bodwell teachers offer intellectual stimulation and mentorship to support their students' pursuit of knowledge and creativity. Bodwell counselors provide guidance and are empathetic listeners, speaking a number of languages including Cantonese, Mandarin, Spanish, Russian, Japanese, Korean, and Arabic. They are also an important communication link between parents and students. Students who fulfill a grade 12 graduation program will receive a Dogwood Diploma, a high school graduation diploma issued by the Ministry of Education. Bodwell High School has a diverse student population, with local and international students from over 30 countries. Credits obtained at Bodwell can be transferred to the students' home country for equivalence. After Bodwell, most students go on to college or university in Canada or renowned institutions around the world, many with scholarships. The school motto is STRENGTH IN DIVERSITY. These values are actively promoted through the House System, with houses named after people who taught and embodied them in their personal lives: Nelson Mandela, Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King, and the father of multiculturalism in Canada, Pierre Trudeau.
